Sept 25, 2004.......Fulton County........ Whitton Prospect, near Harrisville, N.Y ..…Private property for quartz , hematite, barite, limonite after siderite/ankerite.  Small donation ($2) requested.  Will try to get some backhoe work done prior to the dig to expose new material.

MECKLEY  QUARRIES, September 26th - The Meckley Quarry date is September 26th this year, not the 3rd weekend of September. There is also no Eastern Industries Quarry dig (Winfield or Shamokin) on Saturday.

May 8, 2004........Dolomite Products Quarry ...at Penfield, NY will be having an Open House for Mineral Collecting on Saturday May 8 from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM (although they have remained open later in the past). Please bring steel toed shoes, hard hat, and safety goggles. You may arrive anytime between the open and closing hours, just sign in at the office.
Dolomite Products, Penfield Quarry – NY Thruway to 490 East towards Rochester, avoid route 390, take 490 East to 590 North to exit for Browncroft Rd (route 286) Browncroft turns into Atlantic Ave. Watch for traffic light intersection with Whalen Rd. at grove of pine trees. Make Right onto Whalen. Pass golf course on Right, quarry entrance is on left. Enter open gate, bear right to parking area, sign in at garage/office.

May 16, 2004……Keene Mineral Club……… Eden Mills, VT Asbestos Mine,   minerals found: grossular, vesuvianite and diopside, etc. Dump digging and hard rock mining

May 16..............Capital District.... Ravena, NY....... for quartz & calcite xls  limit 30 people & no one under 12 – quarry rules, LaFarge Cement Quarry, only we get in once a year, usually small quartz points on white calcite, some years better than others, kids have easily found specimens.  Working quarry rules & safety equipment.  NO ADMITTANCE without hard hat, boots, glasses, gloves or after we go in.  Must be on time.

US Route 201 & Route 24 in Topsham.  Turn onto Winter Street (across from church), west 0.45 mi., left on Bridge Street 0.4 mi., right (west) on Oak Street 0.1 mi. to end of street.  Park.  Meet at 10:00 AM on Standpipe Hill at the water tower.  5 min. walk.
